Integrated Power Production & Hybrid Systems with Energy Storage

28th June 2021
10:30 am - 11:30 am BST - London

As the energy transition progresses, hybrid power generation with energy storage is vital tool to maximise the use of renewables while ensuring a supply stability and grid inertia. Integrating wind, solar and gas generators into a single system minimises the overall operating costs and ensures a stable, decentralised electricity supply which makes offtakers independent from the central grid.

  • Learn from three expert speakers how to efficiently integrate various power sources.

Thorsten Krol from Siemens Energy is a Senior Key Expert for the integration of renewables into reliable and stable large and de-centralized grid environments. In this role he develops with the customers new solutions on their de-carbonization roadmap developing hybrid solutions fit for purpose. Thorsten holds a PhD in Physics and has been with Siemens Energy for 16 years, supporting the global energy business in various functions from operating services engineering and marketing assignments towards his current roles as Senior Key Expert in Sales.

Eoin Keane is a Sales Director for microgrids and energy storage at Rolls-Royce Power System’s business segment Sustainable Power Solutions. He currently focuses on selling energy storage systems to EPCs and IPPs active in the Caribbean, South American, and African markets, having previously worked in solar and wind industries. These days Eoin is seeking new project opportunities to integrate energy storage with existing and newly planned power gen units worldwide.

Tarik Sfendla is Market Development Manager, Africa at Wärtsilä Energy and has led international power gen projects in nine African countries (more than 700 MW) for Utility, IPP and C&I customers. Among others, he managed the design and execution of the largest isolated solar PV and thermal hybrid power plant in Africa - the Essakane project, Burkina Faso. Tarik holds a MSc in Mechanical and Energetic Engineering and an Executive MBA degree in Energy Management.
